![]() ![]() The virtual amps follow the original multi-channel design and control knobs of the amp they are based on, allowing for closer tone approximations. The current number of amps available is now 17, although not as many as others, they do emulate some of the most popular amps in history from old Bassmans to modern high gain amplifiers. A good example of this is the 'Citrus' model, which as you may have guessed, is bass on a 70's era Orange amplifier. The name hints on the particular brand of gear, while the graphical interface also does the same. It highlights the advantage of having digital amp and effects modeling - getting tone versatility without having to buy, carry and setup multiple amps and effects. To prevent any copyright issues, all the virtual gear available have pseudonyms that are easy to 'get'. The current version Guitar Rig 5 carries a truck load worth of gear, which you can mix and match in a myriad of ways. Oh yeah and if GR has a IR loader like according to slicklickz, you can load those impulses into that, and stick it after your amp sim. After almost a decade, Guitar Rig has grown to be one of the most complex and feature-packed guitar effects software. (stick the plugin in front of your amp plugin) Using it with the Drive on 0 and the Level to taste ( or all the way up) can really boost your virtual amp, but keeps a tighter low end and a more focused sound in general. ![]() ![]() If Reaper has any kind of convolution reverb plugin that allows you to load files, you will want to load one of those speaker impulses and set any kind of dry knob to 0% and a wet to 100% ( simulating 100% of the sound going through the speaker), if not you can get LeCab free on the same site as the other lepou stuff, I haven't used it but it should be similar, there are youtube tutorials for it as well i'm sure.Īlso remember that less gain almost always means more clarity, sometimes for recording stuff you really need less gain then you think, especially for a heavy sound.Įdit: If you need a tighter sound, this tube screamer plugin works great : Some good ones are the free Marshall speaker cabinet impulses here: Red Wire Impulse Responses | Free guitar speaker cabinet IRs In combination with a convolution cab impulse ( to simulate the speaker cabinet) The LePou amp sims have a Diezel type amp, a Marshall and a Dual Rectifier ( and a few more I think) I would suggest using the free LePou amp sims from his website: LePou Plugins In my experience, Guitar Rig just doesn't cut it, I've found it always sounds indistinct and very digital and generally very "unclear". ![]()
